The focus of this page is the student. Students with disabilities will find links for useful resources on and off The University of Iowa campus. Students in general will find this information useful for school papers, homework, personal growth, or in trying to assist someone who has a disability. Disability Resource Library - The Disability Resource Library at the Center for Disabilities and Development is a resource for people of all ages with disabilities of all kinds. It is also a resource for their families, and for the service providers with whom they work. DRL collections focus on information for, by, and about people with disabilities. ICATER - as part of our mission students and students with disabilities are provided with a hands-on experiences that will allow them to explore the different technologies available in order for them to select the one that best fits their needs. For more information about ATC AT devices, please view our AT Lab.  Orientations regarding AT are offered for UI students and community in general in order to provide information of the different roles AT may have at school, home, and community.

Students with Disabilities Service Office (SDS) - the mission of SDS is to assure academic accommodations for students with disabilities pursing their education at the University of Iowa. Examples of accommodations that may be provided are:

Alternative Exam Service - the purpose of this service is to provide qualified students with accommodations regarding readers, extra-time, examination formats, use of word processor, etc.

Mobility Access Issues - SDS can coordinate transportation services for students who are in need of accessible transportation services. This service is provided through UI CAMBUS system.

Services for Deaf/ Hard of Hearing - ASL interpreters, English transliterators, on site and remote captioning services, and C-Print are provided as needed. Many other services are offered through SDS. For more information visit SDS web-site at: www.uiowa.edu/~sds

Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services (DVRS) The mission of DVRS is to assist individuals with disabilities access their potential and achieve their independence and employability. DVRS can provide students with disabilities with a variety of services such as: assistance with tuition fees, books, reader services, AT evaluations and equipment, etc. For more information regarding DVRS visit their web site at: www.dvrs.state.ia.us

Iowa Information Technology Services (ITS) Assistive Technology http://www.its.uiowa.edu/cs/ats/ The University of Iowa ITS Assistive Technology (AT) Support is charged by the University with implementing various technologies to empower and enable disabled members of the University community. Chris Clark is the accommodations consultant and offers support and training on assistive technology devices.
